New Navy Uniform Time Line
Compiling the Navy's guidance and regulations on the New Navy Uniform fleet implimintation process
The CNO Charted TASK FORCE UNIFORM  (TFU) to look into feasibility of creating
new Navy working and service uniforms.

June 2003
A www.BOL.Navy.mil survey was conducted to gather fleet input and suggestions for
the new Navy uniforms.

May 2004
Phase One of TFU began. TFU started studying how to best create a single Navy
Working Uniform and single Service Uniform.  TFU was tasked to report back to the
CNO by March 06.

March-Aug 2005
The CNO approved the wear test studies of the proposed new uniforms.

March 2006
Phase One of TFU is complete. The CNO approved:
1) A single BDU style Navy working uniform for all sailors E-1 through O-10, at sea and
shore and across all communities.
2) A single year round service uniform for E-6 and below.  

December 2006
The Navy Working Uniform and Service Uniform will start to be issued in the Summer
of 2008.

October 2008
The Service Uniform and Working uniform distribution schedule was sent via
NAVADMINs
