In February 2003 Admiral Fallon, Vice Chief of Naval Operations created Task Force
Uniform and chartered them to develop a professional, sensible, cost-effective and
adaptable uniform. TFU was tasked to deliver its recommendations by 30 September 2003.
Specific tasking includes:
-- Develop a working uniform for sea, ashore and across all communities from E-1 to O-10
-- Develop a E-1 through E-6 service uniform which can be worn 12 months of the year
-- Reduce the number of uniforms in the sailors seabag
-- Design uniforms to accommodate various body shapes and sizes
-- Streamline and simplify the Uniform Regulations
-- Develop a range of proposals and cost/benefits for review by the CNO.
